Al-Bishak is a Professor of African Literature with specialty in Literary Egyptology at the Department of English and Literary Studies, Federal University of Lafia, Lafia, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. He spent his 10-year doctorate degree research at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria, and travelled to Egypt to source for materials and went on archaeological/ historical sites inspection to enrich his knowledge of ancient Egypt. Among the historical sites he visited are the famous Pyramid of Gizah, the Saqqara Stepped Pyramid, Memphis, Karnak Temple, the Grand Lodge of Luxor, the Royal Library of Alexandria (formerly Rhacotis), the second oldest modern varsity in the world, al-Azhar University of Cairo, the Cairo University, the Pharaonic Village, Cairo, the Egyptian National Museum, etc. The title of his doctorate degree thesis is, “The Chronological Limits of Eurasian Literature: The Content, Context and Style of Ancient Egyptian Literature”. The thesis was modified and published in 2022 as BLACK PAPYRUS: Global Origins of Writing and Written Literature Traced To Black Africa. His Master’s degree thesis’s title at the University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria, is “The Search For African Dramaturgy: Africa, Mother of European Drama”. He was an invited Guest Lecturer of the African Studies Student Association (ASSA) at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan, Nigeria, where he spoke on the topic that later became the title of his book, “Africa’s Ancient Knowledge Systems and Global Legacies”. Al-Bishak obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature-in-English at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. He is a Member of the Order of Niger (M.O.N.) and a Fellow of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA). He is a poet, whose poem, “I Can’t Breathe” was read at the Black Lives Matter rally in Bonn, Germany, in 2021 by woman activist, Sandra Pruffer, and his novel, Mrs. President, won the First Prize of the Delta Fiction Award in 1985. His latest poetry collection is, Save Dunama! And Other Poems.
